Account

Create a new account, or edit an existing one. Top to bottom:

Name

The full name shown in lists and reports. Required. The filesystem banned characters (\ / : * ? " < > |) are rejected so backup files can keep this name verbatim.

Abbreviation

Short tag (max 16 chars) used where space is tight — chip rows, the account dot in transactions list, etc. Optional.

Type

Bank · Cash · Credit card · Asset · Liability · Investment · etc. Picks from the standard set seeded into the book. Choose the type that matches what the account is; the type drives default sign expectations and which extras (credit limit, vehicle details, …) unlock.

Currency

Pick the currency this account is denominated in. The chip row above the picker shows the base currency first, followed by every other currency already in use in this book — tap + to open the full ISO list. Once an account has transactions the currency cannot be changed.

Opening balance

The balance before any transactions. Defaults to zero. Tap the calculator icon to do arithmetic inline; the ± chip flips sign.

If the account has been reconciled at least once, this field is locked behind an explicit Edit anyway override — changing the opening balance after a reconciliation would silently invalidate the last balanced statement.

Credit limit (conditional)

Shown only for account types that mark credit_liability_details_applies — credit cards, lines of credit. The limit drives the utilisation bar on the accounts list and unlocks the Available credit total-type option.

Danger zone (edit only)

The Delete button removes the account permanently. Only allowed when no transactions reference it — move or delete the transactions first, then come back.
