Join a shared book
Someone shared a book with you and sent an invite link. Opening that link normally takes you straight into joining. This screen is for when it doesn't — the link expired, it arrived on a different device, or it was read out to you over the phone.
What you need
Two things, from the person sharing the book:
- The invite link. It starts with
https://oranothermoney://and is long — copy all of it. - The book password. It is deliberately not in the link, so they have to tell you separately. Ask for it before you start; you'll be asked for it a moment from now.
Pasting the link
Paste the link into the box — Paste from clipboard does it in one tap if you've just copied it — then tap Continue.
If the link came as a QR code instead, point your phone's camera at it and open the link it offers. That skips this screen.
What happens next
Continuing takes you to the join screen, where you name the book on your device and enter the password. Your request then goes to the person who invited you, and they approve it on their device.
You don't have to wait around: once you've sent the request you can close the app. The book finishes joining on its own when they approve, as long as that happens within the hour.
If the link doesn't work
- "That doesn't look like an invite link." Something got cut off in transit — messaging apps often truncate long links. Ask for it again, or have them send it as plain text.
- "This invite has expired or was already used." Invites last one hour and work once. Ask for a fresh one.
- "Wrong password." The password is the one they set on the book, not anything you chose. The invite still works, so just try again with the right one.
Tips
- Joining creates a new book on this device. Your existing books aren't touched, and you'll be asked to give the new one a name.
- You need the app's collaboration feature available on your device for the shared book to keep syncing after you join.
- The bottom link on this screen is for something else entirely — rebuilding your own book after losing a device, using an owner recovery code. If someone else is sharing a book with you, you don't need it.
