Table view screen

Table view

A spreadsheet-style grid over the same transactions, filters, and search as the list — reached from the Transactions screen's Table view action. Every column header sorts; Shift-click a second header for a secondary sort (shown as ²). The Balance column only shows values while sorted by date.

The small funnel on a header filters by that column: pick one or more payees, categories, accounts, or statuses, one value of a classification axis, set an amount range, or choose a date period. A filled funnel marks an active filter; the same menu clears it again.

Editing in the grid

Click a cell to make it the active cell (with the side pane open, the row also opens in the editor beside the grid). Click the active cell again — or press F2 — to edit it in place:

  • Status — pick a step on the ladder (○ unreconciled, ◑ pending, ✓ cleared, ✓✓ reconciled — the same marks as the list).
  • Date — type 2026-08-20 or 20.8.2026.
  • Amount — a plain number keeps the row's sign ("12.50" on an expense stays an expense); a leading + or - overrides it.
  • Payee / Category / Account — a filtering picker opens; payee also accepts free text.
  • Classification columns — when the book names a classification axis (book settings), the grid gets a column headed by that name; its picker lists the axis's values plus No <axis> to clear the cell. Transfer legs carry no classification, so those cells stay read-only there.

Some cells hand over to the full editor instead: date, amount, payee, category, and account on transfer legs (the pair must move together), and amount or category on split transactions (the split lines own them). Edits to reconciled rows ask first. Changing a payee here never auto-fills other fields — the grid writes exactly the cell you edited.

Selection & aggregates

On wide screens the first column numbers the rows; hover a row and its number turns into a checkbox. Tick it to select the row, Shift-click another box to add the whole range, and the box in the column header selects every loaded row (or clears the selection). Ctrl/⌘-click on any cell also adds or removes a row, and dragging with the mouse selects a range; a plain click never changes the selection. On a phone, a long press starts selecting rows. The status bar under the grid shows the count plus Sum, Average, Min, and Max of the selected amounts (the currency symbol is dropped when the selection mixes currencies). With one or more rows selected, the bar above the grid offers the set's actions: Copy the rows as spreadsheet-ready text, Fill down the active cell's value onto the whole selection, or Delete (a selected transfer leg removes its partner too — one Undo step).

Columns

Columns (behind ⋯ in the top bar) shows, hides, and reorders columns; drag a header's right edge to resize. Date stays first — it is the frozen column that keeps its place while you scroll sideways. All column preferences are per-device.

The bar on top is the one every tab uses: the search / command field, notifications, undo, and — behind ⋯ — the grid's own search, filters, Columns, and saved Views.

Keyboard

Arrows move the active cell; the selection stays as it is. Shift+↑/↓ extend the selection by a row, Shift+PageUp/PageDown by a screenful, ⌘Shift+↑/↓ to the first/ last row, and ⌘A selects every loaded row. ⌘↑/⌘↓ jump to the first/last row and ⌘←/⌘→ to the first/last column; Home/End and ⌘Home/⌘End do the same, PageUp/PageDown jump a screenful. Enter (or F2) edits the active cell and typing a letter starts an edit with it; while editing, Enter commits and moves down, Tab commits and moves right, Esc cancels. Space toggles selection, ⌘O (or e) opens the row in the full editor, ⌘D fills down, ⌘C copies the selection. Double-click a column's resize handle to fit it to its content. Press ? anywhere for the full list.
