Unlock a book

A book with a password opens here: when the app starts, after Lock book on More, and after the auto-lock (Book settings → Auto-lock). Until you unlock it, the book stays encrypted on this device.

Password

Type the password you set when you created the book and tap Unlock. Where a passkey (web) or biometric unlock (phone) is set up for the book, Use passkey or Use biometric opens it without typing; the tick box under the field sets that up as part of this unlock.

There is no recovery: the book is encrypted with the password, so a forgotten one cannot be reset. Keep a backup and the password somewhere safe.

Other books

Under the card:

• Switch book — lists the other books on this device (shown when there are any); pick one to open it instead. It also becomes the book that opens next time.
• Create or restore another book — opens Another book: create, restore or import a book, or go Back to this one.

Neither touches the locked book. It stays on this device, encrypted and listed in your library.

When a book does not open

If the book cannot be opened at all — not a wrong password, but a damaged file or one saved by a newer version of the app — the card says why, offers Try again and the same two ways out, and changes nothing in the book. A book that has no password yet but needs one asks you to Set a password first.
