Per-category budget editor and the Budget over time chart for one category.
Period
The chip row at the top sets the cadence:
- None — no budget for this category; it lands in *Extra
spending*.
- Monthly — single amount applied to every month.
- Yearly — single amount applied to the calendar year; the
Budget tab prorates it across the months.
- Per month — opens a 12-slot grid so you can set a different
amount per calendar month (e.g. heating bigger in winter, travel bigger in summer).
Amount
Shown in Monthly and Yearly modes — one figure. Tap the calculator icon to do arithmetic inline; the ± chip flips sign (rare for budgets but valid for income-side categories).
Monthly amounts (conditional, Per month only)
A grid of twelve calculator fields labelled Jan – Dec (in your locale). Empty fields are treated as zero.
Budget over time chart
- Bars show actual spending per month.
- The horizontal line marks the budget for that month.
- Bar colour follows the same pacing palette as the Budget tab —
on-pace / close / over.
Tips
- A category with
0everywhere lands on the Extra spending tab;
a category with None is hidden from the Budget list entirely.
- The chart's time window mirrors the criteria panel on the
Budget-over-time report. Open that report to swap in different pivots or accounts.
